Where to find real jobs
Real jobs in Europe are posted in the same few places. Searching there is slower than paying an agent, but it is where real offers come from.
Public job portals
- EURES: the EU's job mobility portal lists vacancies from public employment services across Europe. You can filter by country, occupation and language.
- National public employment services: Germany's Federal Employment Agency job board, France Travail in France, and similar services in every EU country. Many listings are tagged as open to international candidates.
- Make it in Germany: the federal portal lists jobs suitable for international skilled workers.
Private job boards
- LinkedIn: the most used channel for professional roles. Set your location preferences to the countries you want and state your visa situation clearly.
- Indeed, StepStone (Germany), Welcome to the Jungle (France), InfoJobs (Spain), Net-Empregos (Portugal) and other national boards.
- Specialist boards for tech, healthcare and engineering.
Company career pages
Large employers post everything on their own sites first. Make a list of 30–50 target companies, including European firms that already work with India, and check their career pages weekly.
Your network
- Indian alumni of your university living in Europe
- Professional associations and online communities in your field
- Former colleagues now working abroad
- Indian community associations in your target city
A referral from an employee is often the fastest way through the door.
Recruitment partners
Some employers work with recruitment firms. Legitimate firms are paid by the employer, not by you. In India, agencies recruiting for overseas jobs must be registered with the Ministry of External Affairs. See stay safe.
